The men's cross of Ruddervoorde in Belgium was disrupted immediately at the start by a massive crash. Bad luck for the man from Beringen, Ryan Kamp, who was affected the most. He was unable to continue the race.
Kamp was also the first to crash. Other riders tumbled over him like dominoes. Kamp was severely bruised, as evidenced by his torn clothing. He was conscious, however. With assistance, he was eventually carried off the road.
It is not Kamp's year for now. During the opening race of the season, he had no chance of a good result after Eli Iserbyt kicked his bike in anger after a crash. The Belgian was given a three-cross suspension by the UCI.
