Gall becomes World Champion in junior category

Felix Gall, born on February 27, 1998, in Austria, quickly made his mark in the cycling world by clinching the junior world championship title in 2015, out-sprinting France's Clément Betouigt-Suire. He joined DSM-firminich's development team (previously Team Sunweb) in 2017, and until 2019, he competed in the under-23 category, where his notable achievements included winning the Istrian Spring Trophy and the national under-23 road title.

Gall turned pro in 2020, but his initial year in the pro ranks was a learning curve, as he struggled to make a significant impact in major races like the Flèche Wallonne and the Road World Championships, failing to complete both events. The following year also didn't bring any victories, prompting him to switch teams and join AG2R-Citroën.

Gall achieves initial successes with AG2R-Citroën

In his first season with AG2R-Citroën, Gall didn't notch up any wins but demonstrated his potential as a future contender. He debuted in the Giro d'Italia, finishing 50th overall, and made an impression in the Tour of the Alps with a sixth-place finish in the general classification.

Gall's breakthrough moment came in the 2023 Tour de France. He grabbed the spotlight in the fifth stage by earning the polka dot jersey in a breakaway. His crowning achievement was winning the queen stage later in the Tour. In a strategic move, he broke away on the second-last climb and maintained his lead to victory, with Simon Yates crossing the finish line over thirty seconds later. Gall finished an impressive eighth overall in his Tour de France debut. He also celebrated a stage win in the Tour of Switzerland that year. Gall is contracted with AG2R-Citroën until 2025, marking him as a rider to watch in the coming seasons.
