Kopecky shares 'key to success' of SD Worx-Protime after Wiebes' hat-trick in London

Lorena Wiebes added another triumph to her collection at the RideLondon Classique on Sunday. The Dutchwoman from SD Worx-Protime secured her third consecutive win in London, clinching the overall victory with ease. Lotte Kopecky supported her teammate and secured third place on the final podium.

"It's satisfying to finish with a victory on the Mall in central London. The team performed at a high level this weekend. I'm proud to have achieved the hat-trick once again, repeating my success from 2022," Wiebes commented through her team. "It's refreshing to win a completely flat stage for a change. Riding through the center of London was special, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Throughout the day, the team kept me well-positioned at the front, which was crucial. There was a crash early on, and one of my teammates was involved; fortunately, her bike hit my rear wheel, but I managed to escape without serious consequences," Wiebes acknowledged her stroke of luck.

"I had my sights set on achieving the hat-trick. It's always challenging to replicate past performances, and achieving a hat-trick is even more demanding. Having such strong teammates around me certainly helped. I want to express my gratitude to them for everything they've done. It's also satisfying that we secured first and third places in the general classification. It's fantastic to demonstrate our dominance in this RideLondon," concluded the speedy rider from SD Worx-Protime.

Not everything went smoothly for Kopecky in the RideLondon Classique

"I am proud of the performance put up by Team SD Worx-Protime in RideLondon," adds world champion Kopecky. "It was a collectively strong showing from the team. What I particularly appreciate is our mutual trust. That's the key to success. Sometimes, your instincts may suggest otherwise, but you must always trust and follow your lead-out. By drawing confidence from each other, we can excel in such hectic sprints."

"I am delighted with Lorena Wiebes' hat-trick," the Belgian continued. "Just before RideLondon, I was feeling a bit under the weather. Unfortunately, I had a fall on Saturday, so it wasn't an ideal lead-up. However, we can use this team performance as a foundation to build upon. Hopefully, it sets the stage for a fantastic summer."
