After a year marked by highlights, Jonathan Milan faces a new chapter in his career. The Lidl-Trek rider excelled on both track and road in 2024. He became world champion in the individual pursuit in Ballerup and won a bronze medal with the Italian team at the Olympic Games in Paris. On the road, he was also unstoppable, with three stage victories in the Giro d'Italia and winning the purple points jersey. Milan was responsible for a total of 11 victories this season.
Yet Milan will take a different course in the future. The focus will shift to the road, with the track temporarily fading into the background. "In the coming years, I will focus more on the road. I will leave the track aside to pick it up again later leading up to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics," he told Discovery.

Milan has huge ambitions and is setting sights on some of the most prestigious classics. "Milan-Sanremo is a race I would like to win. Of course, everything depends on how the future unfolds, but Sanremo, Ghent-Wevelgem, and Paris-Roubaix are the races I aim for in the coming years. The Tour of Flanders? Maybe later, when I have more experience. In any case, it's a race I like to be involved in because you need that experience to win, along with a bit of luck."
In addition to his ambitions in the classics, Milan continues working hard on his sprinting skills. He still sees room for improvement in his positioning during the fast-paced finals: "I still need to work on my positioning during sprints." If he succeeds, in a year, we might be able to call Milan, without a doubt, the very best sprinter of the moment.
