Remarkable! Tadej Pogacar would have gone to Disneyland Paris instead of Canada.

Remarkable! Tadej Pogacar would have gone to Disneyland Paris instead of Canada.

Tadej Pogacar is the top favorite to win Friday's GP Québec, his first race after the Tour de France. However, the superstar did not make it to the North American country. And that in itself had quite an extraordinary reason.....

The Slovenian superstar of UAE Team Emirates arrived in Canada with a long delay, and that was because he got stuck at the Paris airport. His ETA, a kind of electronic permission for foreign tourists traveling to Canada by plane, would have been incorrect, he told the press conference ahead of the race in Quebec.

After Quebec, Pogi logically also rides the Montreal GP, but competing in Canada was almost not happening. According to the cycling protagonist, it was all because of an administrative error. Unlike his teammates—including Tim Wellens and Juan Ayuso—who were allowed to pass through customs, Pogacar was left behind in the French capital.

Organization GP Quebec and GP Montréal booked other flight for Pogacar

"Then I should have gone to Disneyland," the man from Komenda was able to laugh pleasantly. Because in the end, it all worked out for him, too. "Disneyland had genuinely seemed like fun. But it turned out to be a little too complicated. Luke Maguire ( UAE Team Emirates' press secretary, ed.) was unhappy with the plan to take the train to Disneyland and spend a few hours at the amusement park."

So, how was it eventually resolved? The organization managed to book another flight for the 25-year-old all-rounder. Consequently, he arrived on the North American continent without further problems but with a considerable delay. The three-time Tour winner revealed that his suitcase did stay behind in France. In a conversation with CNN, Pogacar explained his upcoming races. Quotes from that interview can be found here!
