There have already been plenty of crashes in the 2025 season, but Paris-Roubaix never fails to add a fresh wave of injuries. This year was no different, with riders crashing throughout the day and the post-race medical report filling up fast.
As in previous editions, there were crashes all day long. The bad luck started even before the first cobblestone sector, including a crash involving Manlio Moro. The Italian from Movistar fractured a metacarpal bone in his right hand and his left collarbone and will require surgery. In the crash that took down Matej Mohoric (Bahrain Victorious) and Wout van Aert (Visma | Lease a Bike), Albert Torres, another Movistar rider, was also involved. He got away with "superficial wounds." Ayco Bastiaens (Soudal-Quick Step), however, broke his left collarbone in the same crash.
As the Forest of Wallers approached, riders like Jasper Stuyven (Lidl-Trek) and Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) also fell, but both managed to reach the finish. That wasn’t the case for Edward Theuns (also Lidl-Trek), who crashed with 135 kilometers to go and had to abandon with “trauma to the cervical spine.” Alexander Kristoff of Uno-X was also involved and abandoned the race. Julius van den Berg (Picnic PostNL) fractured his right collarbone.

And the list doesn’t end there. Silvan Dillier (Alpecin-Deceuninck) missed out on celebrating Van der Poel’s win after breaking his right hand. Nils Politt (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) also failed to finish due to a crash, suffering abrasions. Teammates Tim Wellens and Juan Sebastián Molano didn’t reach the finish line either, though they weren’t listed in any crashes.
There was also an update on Lidl-Trek’s Mathias Vacek in the jury report. The young Czech crashed hard, landing on his head, but still somehow finished the race in 116th place. He wasn’t alone in crossing the line in rough shape — Stefan Küng was seen heavily bloodied mid-race, but the Groupama-FDJ rider pushed through and finished 43rd. It’s not the first time either — Küng famously continued riding after a brutal crash in the 2023 World Championship time trial.
Outside of the official report, it was also confirmed that Davide Ballerini (XDS-Astana) fractured his left wrist in multiple locations and will need surgery.
