On Sunday, he won the Tour of Flanders, but on Monday, he was already present as a spectator at another sport. Tadej Pogacar was with his partner Urska Zigart at the tennis tournament in Monte Carlo, but there, he accidentally broke an unwritten rule in that sport and was booed by his fellow spectators.
Pogacar was present at the match between the Chinese Yunchaokete Bu and the Italian Lorenzo Musetti but returned to his seat too late after a short stop. In tennis, the unwritten rule is that the audience must always be seated when the game is in progress.
The umpire, therefore, decided to address Pogacar and Zigart. "Please take your seats. We are waiting for you," she said through the microphone to the Slovenian pair. The rest of the audience then began to boo and even whistled a little before they eventually took their seats, albeit a little late. Unintentionally, of course.
Pogacar flew back home the same evening after the Tour of Flanders, which limited his press conference as the winner to eight minutes. This Sunday, he will compete in Paris-Roubaix for the first time in his career.
