Anyone who thought that Primoz Roglic might make a spectacular transfer after 2025 can put that idea to rest. At least, if the usually very reliable cycling journalist Daniel Benson is to be believed. On Tuesday, the British journalist reported that the Slovenian rider will also be racing in 2026 in the colors of Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe.
Three years with Team LottoNL-Jumbo and five years with Team Jumbo-Visma—Roglic spent a total of eight seasons with the Jumbo squad, achieving great success. During that time, he won the Vuelta a España three times, the Giro d'Italia once, and multiple major stage races, including Tirreno-Adriatico and the Tour de Romandie. He also added a Monument to his palmarès in 2020, winning Liège-Bastogne-Liège. However, when Jumbo withdrew its sponsorship ahead of 2024, Roglič’s time with the Dutch team also came to an end.
He eventually joined the ambitious project of BORA-hansgrohe, the German team that saw energy drink giant Red Bull invest in early 2024. In his new colors, Roglič had an impressive debut season. The now 35-year-old Slovenian recovered in time for the Tour de France after crashing in the Tour of the Basque Country, but once again, he had to abandon the Tour following another crash. He then shifted his focus to the Vuelta a España, where a resilient and strong Roglič fought his way to his fourth overall victory.

Although it was widely reported that the veteran rider had signed a two-year deal with Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, the highly reliable Daniel Benson now reports that Roglic will also race for a third year with the German-Austrian team. It remains unclear whether this is due to an automatic extension clause in his original contract or if the Slovenian himself has signed an additional year.
With this move, the team takes another major step toward maintaining its Grand Tour ambitions at the highest level. According to Benson, Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe has also extended the contract of Florian Lipowitz. The talented German, who had his breakthrough in the Tour de Romandie last year and recently finished second in Paris-Nice, is seen as the long-term successor to Roglic.
