A young goat in the Greek mountains had nearly given up after falling into a ravine, unable to climb out on its own. Fortunately, Demi Vollering was there; she spotted the animal during her vacation and, without hesitation, climbed down into the ravine. Her heroic act brought smiles all around—from Vollering and from the little goat that quickly scampered away. Luckily, we have the footage...
It’s no secret that Vollering is an animal lover; she often features her dogs, Pips and Flo, on her socials. So, when she encountered a Greek goat in trouble, she sprang into action. "I was afraid I’d find something dead, but instead, we found a severely underweight goat," reads the caption on the video.
Together with her partner Jan, they even embarked on a follow-up search to provide the goat with some water after the rescue, but the little animal quickly ran off. No wonder, as the footage shows remnants of other goats in the walled ravine, those that hadn’t survived before. If only they had met a Demi during her hike... "GOAT helps goat," reads one of the comments, a nod to "the GOAT," or Greatest Of All Time.

Vollering enjoys vacation after a tumultuous year

That Vollering is enjoying herself in Turkey and Greece is clear from the many sunny photos she’s already shared on her channel. "Unwinding after a busy period," she wrote meaningfully in her first post from Southern Europe. Vollering went through quite a lot in 2024. She missed out on victories in the spring classics and, due to a crash, also lost the win in the Tour de France Femmes. To make matters worse, she became the scapegoat after a disappointing World Championship for the Netherlands in Zurich.
It all ended on a positive note this week when it was announced that Vollering would be joining FDJ-SUEZ in 2025. From the beach, she thanked her teammates and staff at SD Worx-Protime for four wonderful years and can now look forward to a new French adventure. As team leader, Vollering aims for redemption in the upcoming Tour next summer, after winning the yellow jersey once already in 2023.
